The “boom” of digital printing and patterns: These are its multiple possibilities

Publicado el 19 February, 2019

Textile digital printing has opened the way for experimentation, creativity, and boldness, allowing us to print everything from the most classic stripes to the most representative historical plaids on fabrics. And since at Waixo we combine the printing of our 21 fabrics with the most elaborate designs, we have decided to dedicate this entry to all those designs capable of transforming a shirt, a dress, or a coat into a true work of art. If you dare to try digital printing with us, do not hesitate to visit us at waixo.com or write to us at info@waixo.com.

Prints and dresses: A perfect tandem

It would be a mistake to compile a list of printed garments without mentioning dresses. Multiple possibilities emerge when combining light fabrics such as crepe knit or piqué knit -also known as Marseilles or imperial knit-, or warmer ones such as viyella or the pleasant White Satin, both made of cotton (you can read more about them in our fabrics), with colorful prints: classic florals, plaids, geometric figures, minimalism and animal print are just a few examples of what we can achieve with digital printing.

Below, we gather some of the bets from renowned brands such as Armani, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Marchesa.

But printing is not just for luxury brands; pioneering firms with a promising future also opt for printing their fabrics. This is the case for Sophie and Lucie, Medwins, Atakontu, or Pepaloves.

Also for them

Printed men's shirts are gaining new followers thanks to the variety of combinations and colors available on the market. With fabrics like Poplin, voile, or Organic Viena, comfortable, breathable, and incredibly colorful cotton shirts can be obtained. We have seen how mainstream brands like Mango and Zara adopted this trend, and also more daring ones that leave their particular mark on their prints. This is how Beatlovers or Nusa Dual do it.

The combination of prints: Mix and match

It's no longer necessary to follow the typical basic fashion rules that prevented us from combining black with navy blue, horizontal stripes with vertical ones, or argyle with polka dots. Now anything is possible, and even the strangest combinations can result in a most flattering look; something that we can also adapt to our prints. To show you everything you can do with prints, we leave you the following images. Also, we remind you that at Waixo you can print our 21 fabrics - among which you will find poplin, satin, twill, or velvet, among others - with your own design or with one from our collection.

These are the dominant prints

Stripes and polka dots continue to rise, as do floral prints. As two major new trends, we can highlight Vichy checks - always in our memory but with different prominence depending on the season - and oriental prints, perfect for combining with kimonos and other Asian-cut garments. For the more daring, themed and merchandising prints are also in fashion. Proof of this are the retro Coca-Cola style t-shirts launched by Pull & Bear, Primark's Harry Potter collection, or the t-shirts of legendary music groups from stores like Mango or Stradivarius (so you can pay homage to Ramones or KISS even if you've never listened to them).
