The base fabric of the Glasgow cloth is a blend of polyester, viscose, and elastane, weighing 380 gr/m2 and measuring 150 cm in width. The solid printed color is a vibrant French purple-violet, achieved with a mix of 73 cyan ink and 85 magenta ink, and 0 yellow and black ink, represented in CMYK as 73 85 0 0. This color symbolizes creativity, originality, and intuition. Furthermore, it pairs perfectly with shades of gray and black, stone, and off-white.
It is important to note that the fabric is digitally printed with the solid color on one side only. This means the fabric is not dyed, but rather the print is applied to a single side of the fabric.
The soft texture and feel of this fabric make it perfect for garments such as coats, trench coats, jackets, blazers, bomber jackets, and vests, as well as for home textiles like coasters and kitchen towels. It is important to highlight that this fabric is also used in altars, which is a very unique and traditional application.
To maintain the quality of the fabric, it should be washed with cold water at a maximum temperature of 40ºC and ironed at a warm temperature. It is important to avoid bleaching and dry cleaning, as well as not tumble drying the fabric.
The printing technology used to manufacture the base fabric is sublimation on polyester, which allows the inks to adhere to the fabric durably without losing color quality. This process involves printing the image onto transfer paper using sublimable ink and then placing the transfer paper on the fabric and applying heat and pressure to transfer the image to the fabric in a process called "sublimation." This technology allows for the printing of complex, detailed designs in a variety of colors, making it an ideal choice for textile customization.
